6 Miami Beach Calling All Sun Worshippers!

miami beach

Hey there beach lovers! If you’re looking to soak up some serious sun rays and sink your toes into warm, sugary sands, then Miami-Dade County is the place for you. This sunny paradise in southern Florida boasts miles of gorgeous beaches with turquoise waters and a vibe that screams “welcome to paradise!”

As a longtime Miami resident and self-proclaimed beach bum, I’ve spent countless hours exploring the incredible stretches of coastline this area has to offer. So grab your sunscreen, beach chairs, and get ready to discover some of the must-visit beaches that will have you never wanting to leave!

South Beach – The Quintessential Miami Scene

Let’s start with the crown jewel – South Beach. This world-famous strand located right in the heart of Miami Beach is a scene like no other. With its art deco hotels lining the strip, happening beach clubs, and beautiful people strutting their stuff, South Beach oozes a cool, trendy, and lively atmosphere.

The Beach Scene: The soft white sand is perfect for laying out, playing beach sports or simply people watching. There’s always something going on here – from pickup volleyball games to street performers dazzling the crowds.

After Beach Hot Spots: When you’ve had your fill of sun, check out the iconic Ocean Drive for some seriously good eating, drinking, and celebrity spotting. Or stroll over to Lincoln Road Mall for some shopping and entertainment. The fun never stops!

Tip: Get there early to snag a prime spot as it gets very crowded, especially during Spring Break. Parking can also be a challenge, so consider public transportation.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park – A Natural Oasis

If you’d rather escape the hustle and bustle, head to Key Biscayne and discover the hidden gem that is Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. This picture-perfect beach and nature lover’s paradise is worlds away from the Miami scene, yet only about 30 minutes from downtown.

The Beach Scene: Soak up the sun on the sugary sands or spend the day snorkeling, kayaking, or swimming in the calm, clear waters and exploring the area’s diverse ecosystems. With shady beach areas and awesome amenities like a cafe, chair/cabana rentals, and well-maintained facilities, it’s a fantastic beach for families too.

Nature Trails & Historic Sites: Don’t miss walking the trails through West Indian tropical hardwood hammocks or visiting the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County – the Cape Florida Lighthouse which dates back to 1825. This place is an absolute treasure!

Tip: Pack a cooler, because aside from the beachside cafe, there aren’t a lot of nearby dining options once you’re in the park. Also, get there early on weekends as the grounds can fill up.

Haulover Beach – Where Clothing is Optional

Alright daring beach goers, let’s talk about Miami’s most famous “au naturel” beach – Haulover Beach! Unlike the skimpy bikinis of South Beach, this beach is renowned for being “clothing optional” which draws a very…ahem…uninhibited crowd.

The Beach Scene: If you don’t mind potentially seeing more than you bargained for, Haulover has a lot to offer – wide sandy stretches, beautiful blue water, beach volleyball courts, and a nicely renovated bathhouse. Just don’t be surprised if you encounter some “free as a bird” sunbathers!

**After Beach Fun: **If you want to cover up after de-sanding, stop by the Haulover Beach Park which features a nine-hole golf course and the iconic Rusty Pelican waterfront restaurant with its epic views.

Tip: There are “Family Beaches” clearly marked if you want to avoid the eccentric scene. And please, no photography around the “Clothing Optional” sections!

Sunny Isles Beach – Peaceful & Family Friendly

Sometimes you just want to enjoy a beautiful beach without all the commotion and chaos. Enter the pristine shores of Sunny Isles Beach – a relaxed oceanfront community located between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal waterways of Miami.

The Beach Scene: With sprawling white sandy beaches and gorgeous blue-green waters, Sunny Isles Beach offers an utterly serene environment ideal for families or those just looking to decompress. You’ll find plenty of open spaces, clean facilities, lifeguards on duty, and a breezy beach trail perfect for walking or biking.

Nearby Food & Entertainment: While the beach itself is tranquil, you’ll find lots of excellent dining and entertainment options in the surrounding area. The Sunny Isles Beach promenade is filled with great restaurants, outdoor cafes, boutique shops, and hotels.

Tip: Pack a picnic and spend a full day at the beach as there are grills and picnic areas set up along the sands. The further north you go, the fewer crowds.

Matheson Hammock Park – A Natural Beach Escape

Hidden away in Coral Gables lies one of Miami’s best-kept secrets – Matheson Hammock Park Beach. This stunning park features a perfect little beach cove surrounded by mangroves and lush nature trails. It’s a true tropical oasis!

The Beach Scene: The beach itself is rather small and rocky in parts, but oh-so-peaceful and serene. Come here to escape the typical “scene” and just relax and recharge surrounded by natural beauty. It’s the perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or just reading a book under the shade of rustling palm trees. Sublime!

Nature Trails & Lagoon: After some beach time, explore the park’s nature trails and visit the man-made atoll pool – a gorgeous pool surrounded by a natural coral reef and “beach” area. On weekends they hold beachside yoga classes too.

Tip: Because it’s often overlooked, Matheson is far less crowded than the typical Miami beaches. Weekdays are very slow-paced here if you want ultimate tranquility.

Crandon Park Beach – Activities Galore!

For a perfect family-friendly beach with activities and amenities for days, make your way to the gorgeous Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne. This very happening beach offers umbrella/chair rentals, cabanas, a splash park for the kids, ample picnic areas, sports rentals, and impeccably maintained facilities.

The Beach Scene: The wide sandy beaches offer plenty of space to spread out, while the warm, shallow water is perfect for little ones. You’ll find beach volleyball courts, playgrounds, a marina, and even a classic sandy golf course along the shore.

Nature Areas & Gardens: When you need a break from the beach action, explore Crandon’s unique nature areas like the Bear Cut Preserve with its hiking trails and panoramic ocean views. Or stroll through the lush Beach Gardens filled with native Florida plants.

Tip: Arrive early and take advantage of the free transportation tram that shuttles people around the large grounds. It can get very crowded, especially on holidays.

There you have it beach lovers – just a small sampling of the incredible stretches of coastline awaiting you in sunny Miami-Dade County! This sun-kissed paradise has a beach vibe for everyone. So slather on that sunscreen, pack your swimsuit and sense of adventure, and get ready to soak up the endless summer on some of Florida’s best strands!

To do that you simply must get your hands on a replica of your credit profile. That should not be difficult, since government mandates that you are allowed to receive one no cost copy of your actual credit report on a yearly basis. You just have to request that from the right men and women. You can either check out the website for that Federal Trade Commission as well as contact one of the major credit agencies specifically.
